Everything you need to know about your treatment — what to expect, how results develop, and when to rebook.
At Ametrine, we believe informed patients get the best results. This guide covers every treatment we offer, walking you through what happens at each stage so there are no surprises — just confidence in the process.
Toxin Treatments
One Area | Two Areas | Three Areas | Mini Tox | Jawtox | Necktox | Hyperhidrosis
What it does
Botulinum toxin relaxes targeted muscles to soften lines and wrinkles. It works gradually — not instantly. The goal is never “frozen.” The goal is refreshed, rested, you.
What to expect
Immediately after: You may notice small raised bumps at the injection sites. These settle within 20–30 minutes. Some patients have mild redness. You can return to your day straight away.
First 6 hours: Avoid lying flat, rubbing or massaging the treated area, and intense exercise. Stay upright and let the product settle where it’s been placed.
12 hours: Any redness or minor swelling should have resolved. You might not notice any visible difference yet — that’s completely normal.
24 hours: Still very early. Most patients see no change at this point. Resist the urge to assess your results this soon.
2 days: You may start to notice very subtle changes — a slight heaviness in the treated area, or that frowning feels slightly different. Or you may notice nothing yet. Both are normal.
1 week: Gradual muscle relaxation begins. Lines start to soften. This is when most patients begin to see the treatment working, though full results aren’t here yet.
2 weeks: This is when we assess your results. The full effect of your toxin treatment should now be apparent. Movement is reduced, lines are softened, and the result looks natural.
1 month: You’re enjoying your peak results. The treatment has fully settled and integrated.
3 months: Most patients still have good results at this stage, though you may notice very early signs of movement returning. This is the point where many patients start thinking about their next appointment.
6 months: For most people, the toxin will have worn off significantly by now. Waiting this long means you’re essentially starting from scratch each time, which typically requires more product and delivers less consistent results.
When to rebook
Maintenance appointments: every 3–4 months for most patients. This keeps results consistent and means smaller, less frequent interventions over time. Your practitioner will advise on your personal timeline based on how your muscles respond.
Review appointment: 2 weeks after your first treatment, or if you have any concerns about symmetry or results.
Dermal Filler
Lip Filler | General Filler | Nose Filler | Tear Trough Filler
What it does
Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume, structure, and definition to targeted areas. Results are immediate but evolve as swelling settles. The final result you see in the mirror on day one is not your final result.
What to expect
Immediately after: You’ll see volume straight away, but expect swelling on top of this — particularly with lip filler. Your lips or treated area will look larger than the intended result. This is temporary. Small bruises are common and not a sign that anything has gone wrong.
First 6 hours: Swelling increases. Lips especially can feel tight and look significantly larger than expected. Apply a cold compress gently if comfortable. Avoid heat, alcohol, and intense exercise.
12 hours: Swelling is likely at its peak, particularly for lip treatments. The treated area may feel firm or tender. This is the product settling and your body’s natural response.
24 hours: Swelling begins to stabilise. Bruising may become more visible before it fades. Avoid blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen) unless medically necessary. Paracetamol is fine.
2 days: Swelling starts to subside noticeably. You’ll begin to see the shape of your actual result emerging beneath the initial puffiness. Some asymmetry is normal at this stage — swelling rarely resolves symmetrically.
1 week: Most swelling has settled. Bruising is fading. You’re starting to see your true result, though the filler is still integrating with your tissue.
2 weeks: The filler has softened and settled into the tissue. This is when your result starts to look and feel natural. A review appointment at this stage allows us to assess symmetry and discuss any adjustments.
1 month: Your final result. The filler has fully integrated, any bruising has completely resolved, and what you see now is what you can expect going forward.
3 months: Results remain stable. Depending on the area treated and the type of filler used, you may notice very subtle changes as the product begins to metabolise.
6 months: Lip filler typically lasts 6–9 months. Other areas (cheeks, jawline, chin) can last 9–18 months depending on the product and your metabolism.
When to rebook
Lip filler: 6–9 months, depending on how quickly you metabolise the product. We’d rather maintain a natural result than wait until everything has dissolved.
Cheek, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds: 9–18 months. These areas tend to hold product longer. Your practitioner will discuss a personalised maintenance plan.
Tear trough: 12–18 months. This is a delicate area and results tend to be long-lasting.
Review appointment: 2–4 weeks after treatment to assess the settled result.
Skin Boosters & Bio-stimulators
Profhilo | Skinboosters | Polynucleotides | Sculptra For Face | Radiesse
What they do
These treatments work beneath the skin’s surface to improve hydration, stimulate collagen, and restore skin quality from the inside out. Unlike filler, you won’t see dramatic volume changes — the improvements are in your skin’s texture, firmness, and glow.
Profhilo
Immediately after: Small raised bumps (wheals) at each injection point. These are expected and settle within a few hours to a day.
6–12 hours: Bumps flatten. Mild redness may remain. You can apply makeup the following day.
24 hours: Injection sites should have settled. No visible sign of treatment for most patients.
2 days: Nothing visible yet. The hyaluronic acid is spreading beneath the skin and beginning its bioremodelling process.
1 week: Still early. You may notice your skin feels slightly more hydrated, but the real changes are happening at a cellular level.
1 month: This is where Profhilo starts to show. Improved hydration, subtle firmness, and a healthy glow begin to emerge.
3 months: Optimal results. Your skin quality should be noticeably improved — better texture, improved firmness, and a natural radiance.
6 months: Results are starting to fade. A maintenance treatment is recommended to sustain the improvements.
When to rebook: Profhilo is typically delivered as a course of 2 treatments, 4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 6 months. This is not a one-and-done treatment.
Skinboosters
Immediately after: Mild swelling, tiny bumps at injection sites. Redness is common and expected.
24 hours: Most swelling and redness resolves. Skin may feel slightly textured.
1 week: Skin begins to feel smoother and more hydrated.
1 month: Noticeable improvement in skin hydration and fine lines.
3 months: Peak results after completing your initial course.
When to rebook: Initial course of 3 treatments, 2–4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 4–6 months.
Polynucleotides
Immediately after: Small bumps at injection points, mild swelling and redness. Similar to Profhilo in the immediate post-treatment phase.
24 hours: Injection sites settle. Mild tenderness may persist.
1 week: Skin begins its regeneration process. No dramatic visible changes yet.
1 month: Gradual improvements in skin texture and quality begin to show.
3 months: Full results become apparent — improved skin quality, reduced fine lines, better overall texture.
When to rebook: Course of 2–3 treatments, 3–4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments recommended every 6 months.
Sculptra For Face
Immediately after: Mild swelling from the injection process. The product contains water which gives an initial “plumping” effect — this is temporary and not your final result.
24 hours: Massage the treated area as instructed by your practitioner (the “5-5-5 rule” may be recommended). Mild tenderness is normal.
2 days: The initial water content absorbs and your face may look as it did before treatment. This is sometimes called the “Sculptra dip” and is completely expected.
1 week: The treatment area may look unchanged. Sculptra works by stimulating your own collagen, and this takes time.
1 month: Subtle early signs of collagen stimulation. Most patients don’t see visible changes at this point.
3 months: This is when Sculptra starts to deliver. Gradual volume restoration and improved skin quality begin to show.
6 months: Results continue to build. Sculptra’s effects are cumulative and progressive.
When to rebook: Course of 2–3 vials, 4–6 weeks apart. Results can last up to 2 years. Your practitioner will assess your response and plan accordingly.
Radiesse
Immediately after: Immediate volumising effect from the gel carrier. Some swelling is expected.
24 hours: Swelling settles. The initial volume may reduce slightly as the carrier gel absorbs.
1 week: Settling continues. Mild firmness at the treatment site is normal.
1 month: The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres are stimulating collagen. Results begin to build beyond the initial volume.
3–6 months: Progressive collagen stimulation delivers improving results over time.
When to rebook: Results last 12–18 months. Maintenance typically annually, depending on your response.
Facials & Skin Treatments
Microneedling | Face PRP with Microneedling | Microneedling with Exosomes | A Facial | A Peel | Hair PRP
Microneedling
Immediately after: Skin will be red — think moderate sunburn. This is the intended response. Your skin has been stimulated to trigger its healing and renewal process.
6 hours: Redness and warmth persist. Skin feels tight. Avoid applying anything other than the post-care products provided by your practitioner.
12 hours: Redness begins to calm but skin still appears flushed. Avoid makeup, active skincare, and direct sun exposure.
24 hours: Redness is subsiding. Skin may feel dry and tight. Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser only. No retinol, vitamin C, or acids.
2 days: Most redness has resolved. Some patients experience mild flaking or dryness as the skin begins its renewal process.
1 week: Skin is healing. You may notice improved texture and a subtle glow beginning to develop. You can return to your normal skincare routine.
1 month: Collagen remodelling is underway. Skin texture, tone, and firmness continue to improve.
3 months: This is where the real results land. Improved texture, reduced scarring, firmer skin. A course of treatments amplifies these results significantly.
When to rebook: Course of 3–6 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart depending on your skin concern. Maintenance every 3–6 months.
Face PRP with Microneedling
Same timeline as microneedling above, with the added benefit of platelet-rich plasma (your own blood’s growth factors) enhancing the healing and rejuvenation response. Results tend to be more pronounced, particularly for scarring and skin quality.
When to rebook: Course of 3 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart. Maintenance every 6 months.
Microneedling with Exosomes
Same immediate recovery as standard microneedling. Exosomes deliver concentrated growth factors that amplify the skin’s regenerative response. Patients often report faster visible improvement and enhanced results compared to standard microneedling alone.
When to rebook: Course of 3 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart. Maintenance every 6 months.
A Facial
Immediately after: Skin looks refreshed and hydrated. Mild redness is possible but typically resolves quickly.
6–24 hours: Skin continues to feel hydrated and calm. No significant downtime.
1 week: The benefits of deep cleansing, hydration, and professional-grade products are visible in your skin’s clarity and texture.
When to rebook: Monthly facials deliver the best ongoing skin health results. At minimum, every 6–8 weeks for maintenance.
A Peel
Immediately after: Skin may appear slightly pink or feel warm. Tingling is normal. The peel continues to work after you leave the clinic.
6 hours: Avoid water on the treated area if instructed. Skin may feel tight.
12–24 hours: Skin may look slightly darker or feel rough in areas. This is the peel beginning to work. Do not pick or peel any flaking skin.
2 days: Flaking and peeling typically begins. This varies by peel strength — some peels produce visible shedding, others work more subtly.
1 week: Peeling has resolved. Fresh, renewed skin is emerging. Texture and tone improvements are visible.
1 month: Full results are apparent. Improved clarity, reduced pigmentation, smoother texture.
When to rebook: Course of 3–6 peels, 2–4 weeks apart depending on peel type and strength. Maintenance peels every 4–8 weeks. February is historically our peak month for peels — winter is the ideal time for more intensive skin renewal when UV exposure is lower.
Hair PRP
Immediately after: Mild tenderness and redness at the scalp injection sites. Some patients experience a tight or tingling sensation.
24 hours: Tenderness resolves. You can wash your hair the following day. Avoid vigorous scalp massage for 48 hours.
1 month: The growth factors are at work but visible results take time with hair treatments.
3 months: Early signs of improvement — reduced hair shedding and early new growth may be visible.
6 months: Noticeable improvement in hair density and thickness for responsive patients.
When to rebook: Course of 3 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart. Maintenance every 6–12 months depending on response.
Filler Dissolving
Dissolve Filler (Hyaluronidase)
What it does
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid filler. It’s used to correct unwanted results, address complications, or remove old filler before a fresh approach.
What to expect
Immediately after: Swelling at the injection site. The area may look puffy and feel tender.
6–24 hours: Swelling peaks then begins to settle. The dissolving process is already underway.
2 days: Swelling resolves. You can begin to assess how much filler has been dissolved. The area may look “deflated” compared to before — this is expected.
1 week: The enzyme has completed its work. Your practitioner can assess whether further dissolving is needed, or whether you’re ready for new filler if planned.
2 weeks: The tissue has settled fully. This is the earliest we would consider re-treating with new filler.
When to rebook: If further dissolving is required, 2 weeks after the initial session. If you’re planning new filler, allow a minimum of 2 weeks for the tissue to fully recover.
Wellness & Body
Intuitive Body Massage 60 Minute | Intuitive Body Massage 90 Minute | Intuitive Facial Massage
What to expect
Immediately after: Deep relaxation. Muscles feel released. Some areas may feel tender if tension was significant.
6–24 hours: You may feel slightly achy as your body responds to the release of tension — similar to post-exercise soreness. Stay hydrated.
2 days: Tenderness resolves. The benefits of improved circulation, reduced tension, and muscle release are felt.
1 week: The full effects of the massage on your body’s stress response and muscle tension are realised.
When to rebook: For ongoing wellbeing and tension management, every 4–6 weeks is ideal. More frequent sessions may be recommended if you’re addressing a specific concern.
General Aftercare Reminders (All Treatments)
For the first 24 hours after any injectable treatment:
Avoid alcohol, as it increases the risk of bruising. Avoid intense exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms. Don’t apply pressure to or massage the treated area unless specifically instructed to do so. Avoid any other facial treatments.
For all skin treatments:
Protect your skin from direct sun exposure. Wear SPF 30+ daily (you should be doing this anyway). Avoid active skincare ingredients (retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) for the timeframe advised by your practitioner. Don’t pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin.
For all treatments:
If you have any concerns at any point — whether it’s an unexpected reaction, a question about your results, or you’re just not sure if something is normal — contact the clinic. That’s what we’re here for.
A Note on Maintenance
The patients who get the best long-term results are the ones who think about their treatments as ongoing care rather than one-off fixes. Maintaining good results is always easier (and often less expensive) than letting everything wear off and starting from scratch.
Your practitioner will always discuss a realistic maintenance plan with you — not because we want you to rebook unnecessarily, but because consistent, planned care delivers better, more natural-looking outcomes over time.
Prevention beats correction. Every time.
