Sculptra for Face: Why Starting Now Gives You Summer Skin
There’s a particular kind of result in aesthetics that’s hard to describe but instantly recognisable. It’s not the result where someone looks like they’ve had something done. It’s not the dramatic before-and-after that announces itself. It’s the result where someone looks at you and says, “You look incredible — have you been away?“ Have you been sleeping better? What are you doing differently? They can’t put their finger on it. That’s the point. That, in our experience, is what Sculptra does.
What Makes Sculptra Different
Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable, a phrase worth unpacking because it’s genuinely what makes it so interesting. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which add volume directly, Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid / PLLA) works by stimulating your skin to produce its own collagen. It’s injected into the deep layers of the skin, where it acts as a scaffold, prompting fibroblasts, your skin’s own collagen-producing cells, to get back to work. The result builds gradually over weeks and months, as your body lays down new collagen around the treatment site. The volume and lift you see isn’t Sculptra sitting in your face; it’s your tissue, renewed. That’s why the results look so natural and can last for two years or more. It takes time. That is not a flaw. It’s the whole philosophy.
What It Treats
Sculptra is most commonly used on the face, particularly the cheeks and mid-face, where collagen loss can create a hollowed or flattened appearance. Sculptra restores volume here, lifting the whole face naturally. The temples, which hollow with age but are rarely addressed by other treatments. Restoring temple volume has a significant rejuvenating effect on the overall face. The jawline and lower face, where Sculptra provides definition and structure. Fine lines and crepey skin texture — as collagen rebuilds, skin quality improves throughout the treated area. We also offer Sculptra for the body — for areas like the buttocks, arms, and décolletage — but we’ll come to that another time.
Why Now Is the Right Time to Start
The collagen stimulation that Sculptra triggers doesn’t happen overnight. Most clients see visible results beginning to emerge around six to eight weeks after their first session, with full results developing over four to six months. Most people benefit from a course of 2 to 3 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Start in March, and here’s roughly what your timeline looks like:
- March: First session. Mild swelling settles within a few days.
- April/May: Second and third sessions as needed.
- May–June: Collagen production building. Early results becoming visible — skin looks firmer, fresher, slightly lifted.
- July–August: Full results. Natural volume. That lifted, rested look that makes people ask what you’ve been doing. You’ll have earned your summer skin in every sense.
What to Expect From the Treatment
Your Sculptra journey at Ametrine begins with a thorough consultation. We’ll assess your facial structure, discuss your goals, and design a personalised plan — including how many sessions and vials we’d recommend and how we’d approach the treatment areas. The injections themselves are administered using a very fine tube that threads under the skin called a cannula. The Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine to ensure you’re comfortable throughout. The treatment takes around 45–60 minutes per session. Afterwards, you’ll be guided through the Sculptra massage protocol — an important part of the treatment that helps distribute the product evenly. We’ll show you exactly how to do this at home over the following days. Some mild swelling or bruising may occur immediately after treatment, but it settles quickly. Most people feel completely comfortable returning to their normal activities the following day.
