We use hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers, to dissolve unwanted product. It can target a specific lump or area, or clear old filler completely to give us a clean canvas.
Because hyaluronidase is a prescription treatment, dissolving at Ametrine is clinician led from consultation through to review.
We begin with an assessment of what was placed, where and when, and a patch test where appropriate. The dissolving injections themselves are quick, and the enzyme starts working immediately, with most of the effect visible within 24 to 48 hours.
Some areas need more than one dissolving session, particularly older or heavily layered filler. If you would like new filler afterwards, we wait at least two weeks so the area has fully settled and we can see your true starting point.
Swelling straight after dissolving is normal and can briefly look like more volume, not less. It settles within a couple of days. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and heat for 24 to 48 hours, and be gentle with the area while it calms.
It is also normal to feel a little emotional seeing your natural face again after a long time with filler. We understand, and we will plan any next steps at your pace, or none at all.
Dissolving well takes as much skill as filling well. Ametrine is led by Dr Bryony Elder, a dentist and clinical trainer, and corrective work is something our team handles every week. We will be honest about what dissolving can and cannot achieve, and we will never rush you into refilling.
